Blog Review:Laila's Weblog - A Journey Through Life

You are probably wondering what is funny about the photo above? Well absolutely nothing. This is a photo of Laila* who has a personal website at Laila's Weblog - A Journey Through Life. The reason for the review is that as a regular player on Blogshares, Laila* has issued a mission challenge and the reason I've posted it in my photoblog is because my other one(adult) wouldn't be appropriate due to the age group of some of the players. So let us begin....

First Impressions

O.K, I clicked on the link and the page loads fairly quickly. As soon as it loads you can tell straight away that the author is female. Her photo is posted and she is using a static background image with pink theme. All in all it is quite pleasant on the eyes.

Site layout and functionality

The site is being veiwed with a Firefox browser.

I like the way she has the text scroll over the background, quite a nifty idea and seems to work well and I also like how an information box pops up when you hover over a hyperlink. Very effective!

Scrolling down the sidebar I see that Laila* is using some cool scripts such as time and number of guests. At the moment there are 3 of us viewing her blog.

The birthday reminder is unusual as I can't say I've ever seen one before but a good idea in itself.

Everything seems to be working in my browser and Laila* has a valid CSS link, but the XHTML validator detected some problems on the home page.

At the very bottom of the page is a linkbar with links to other internal pages. I am guessing that it's been hidden down here because she wants you to read her blog before you access pages like guestbook and stuff.

Her photo album is a scrolling thumbnail gallery with the background keeping with the pink theme. With this page the only suggestion I can make is maybe center the photo/gallery as it is stuck up in the top left hand corner.

Content

With a blog this size it's always hard to figure out where to start so the About link seems as good as any. It turns out to be an excellent read in to the reasons Laila* blogs and gives an insight to the person that she is. There are plenty of internal links referrencing her experiences and all in all is quite well written.

Moving on now to the main blog Laila* covers a wide range of topics with everything from Jokes to world domination. Browsing through some of the posts I get the impression that everyone would find something to read that interests them.

Summary

Even though Laila's blog is not the kind I usually visit, I found it interesting none the less. As far as giving it a rating, I would say it's one of the better ones I have visited and seems to have had a lot of time and effort put into it. Good Job!

The reason I created this blog is to pay tribute to bad haircuts. Some of us have very different tastes when it comes to hairstyles so if you've had a bad hair day, you might just end up here.
